Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank break off talks
Berlin, Oct 5: Talks between Deutsche Bank AG and Dresdner Bank AG on a merger of their retail-banking activities have failed for the time being. Both banks said negotiations had failed to produce concrete results and terminated them Monday.In a brief statement issued shortly after the market's close, Deutsche Bank expressed its regret over the outcome. It said it now planned to utilise "the strategic freedom gained through the creation of retail-banking arm Deutsche Bank 24 for the development of the retail business in other ways.".
