Bangalore, Oct 5: ERP implementation and turn-key services provider Logix Microsystems is planning to set up a subsidiary in the US for acquiring companies there. The move is part of the company's plan to get listed on the Nasdaq, according to company president Tej Soni.Soni told The Financial Express that the US subsidiary would be up and running by December. Logix is likely to get US government funding for its development projects, for which it has already received enquiries, he added.
Besides the US, other areas where Logix plans to concentrate include the European and West Asian markets. In order to increase its market share in these regions, the company will expand its existing ERP practices. The company has four large projects in West Asia, including one of an oil company in Cairo. The Egyptian subsidiary will be in place by November, Soni added.
According to Soni said, "we are consistently focusing on high value-added areas of software services. We are one of the few companies in India which is high on the value chain of software development. We have developed our own tools and methodologies thereby considerably cutting down the overall delivery time and cost of the project."
He said the company is in the process of developing its internet-based training (IBT) products at its Bannerghatta (near Bangalore) facility. The products would be ready by December and marketed overseas thereafter. Logix plans to set up a multimedia lab and Java support centre for the IBT product range and will invest Rs 2 crore towards product development and expansion, he added.
The company plans to increase the number of its SAP consultants from the current 50 to 100 by the end of the year. Recently, Logix entered into a strategic and marketing tie-up with a Web-based front-office software systems supplier, Siebel Systems Inc.
On the future and potential of internet-based training business, Soni said that this segment had a huge market across the globe as it provides collaborative learning rather than the traditional interactive ways of learning.
Logix's services include hardware and network support, installation and administration, implementation and post-implementation support, training, on-going support for maintenance/migration and off-shore development services in India.
Logix has a professional service group to offer packaged service programmes. The group takes care of different phases of SAP project implementation requirements.
