Escorts to launch Farmtrack 45 in US next month

Hyderabad, Oct 5: Escorts Ltd, the second largest tractor manufacturer in the country, is set to launch its new tractor, Farmtrack 45, in the US next month after a silent entry in the domestic markets in August last. The 42hp tractor fitted with an engine designed by AVL of Austria tailored for paddy cultivation, is Escort's answer to other tractor makers like M&M, Tafe and Punjab Tractors which dominated the "paddy-puddling" segment in the domestic market. The launch of the vehicle proved a shot in the arm for Escorts which sold nearly 400 tractors since its launch in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and in Andhra Pradesh, company officials said. It has since increased the monthly sales target from 20 to to 50 tractors at present in Andhra Pradesh, they said.Price Rs 2.9 lakh the tractor has special features like disc-brakes for quick braking action, safety start switch to avoid accidents. The back up torque is higher as compared to other tractors in this segment, the company claims.
