More Indian firms seek listing on US bourses

United News of India
Bangalore, Oct 5: The number of Indian companies seeking entry into the US securities market will cross the three figure mark in the next five years, David Taylor, partner of the global market capital group of world's leading professional services provider Pricerwaterhouse-Coopers, said.

Taylor said within the next six to eight months about six companies would seek investment in the United States and the number was likely to cross 20 in a year's time. He said information technology companies especially software companies and those handling electronic commerce would attract good investment. They would be followed by companies in telecom, pharmaceutical and financial (especially banking) sectors. He said the conditions in the United States were not not as rigid as in Europe and a number of Indian companies have already made entry into the European markets.

Taylor released a manual "Entering the United States securities markets" that would provide information to the growing need for information in the area. It provided a step-by-step approach for Indian companies to enter the US securities market. The manual also provided a perspective on choosing between different levels or types of American depository receipts covering public and private debt and equity offerings.
