Italy cereals prices witness quiet trend
REUTERS
Milan, Oct 17: Italian cereals markets were quiet in the week to Friday with very little price variation and no concrete trend, traders said. "Maize in Milan has lost a bit but in the Veneto region, where by now the harvest is nearly at an end, prices are steady to firm," one operator from the northeast said. But where harvesting was behind schedule, as in Friuli, prices were around 1,000 lire below Veneto prices. "In theory, prices should come down because the new product is arriving, but there's no sign of a fall yet," he said. "Maize prices may be losing a bit but in reality there's good demand, particularly for the green product. Dry product prices are unchanged but it's not easy to find the stuff," said Mariano Cunietti of Cunietti Cereali. As for wheat, prices were quietly unchanged, said Mario Astesana of Cuneo.
