CPT, Southern LPG sign pact for complex at Roychawk

Calcutta, Nov 5: The Calcutta Port Trust and Chennai-based Southern LPG Ltd today signed a memorandum of understanding to set up a complex at Roychawk, 50km downstream of the port here, to handle liquefied petroleum gas.

The MoU was signed by CPT vice-chairman TK Dewan and Southern LPG Ltd's chief executive officer S Raghavan in the presence of CPT chairman HP Roy. The project report will be finalised within six months and the facilities will be ready in another 24 months. The project cost is expected to be Rs 20 crore.

The CPT chairman said that Balmer Lawrie & Co and Petrofarm have also propsed with projects to handle LPG and other petroleum products. The projects will be finalised soon.

Southern LPG's Raghavan said the West Bengal government has been very supportive of the project, which was originally planned to come up at Pondicherry.
