Tisco, 8 others bag award for fair business
Tata Iron & Steel Company Ltd (Tisco) is among the nine enterprises which has been chosen as the winner of this year's Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP)-Jamnalal Bajaj awards for fair business practices. CFBP awards committee chairman VB Haribhakti announced this on Friday in Mumbai.The awards will be presented on November 29 in Mumbai by Infosys Technologies chairman Narayana Murthy. The others companies which have won trophies include Gargi Huttenes Albertus Ltd (Mumbai), Spellbound Engg Ltd (Pune), Jairaj & Co (Pune), CK Lunawat (Rajgurunagar) and the Hindustan Chamber of Commerce (association category). Certificates of merit will be presented to Lubrizol India Ltd (Mumbai), Patel Brass Works (Rajkot) and Teddy Exports (Mumbai).
Fine Forge buys back IDBI shares
The promoters of Fine Forge Ltd have bought back four lakh shares at the face value of Rs 10 each held by Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) at a price of Rs 19.09 per share. According to an IDBI release, the shares transaction constitute over 1 per cent of the paid-up capital of Fine Forge Ltd and the information regarding the transaction and price was disclosed in terms of the buy back agreement.
NGC to make Hindi programmes
The National Geographic Channel would start producing programmes in Hindi covering natural history, NGC Asia vice-president (marketing) Deborah Armstrong said in Calcutta. The channel, which is currently producing a six-part series on India `India Diaries,' has already pipped its nearest competitor in terms of viewership within a year of its launch, Deborah said.
V-Guard to open cable factory
Kerala-based voltage stabiliser leader, V-Guard will open its exclusive PVC insulated wiring cable factory at Chavady, near Coimbatore, on December 5. Set up at a cost of Rs 14 crore, the fully automated state-of-the-art factory has a production capacity of 1.25 lakh coil per month, the company managing director Kochouseph Chittilappilly told press persons on Thursday.
With computerised machinery from Switzerland, Germany and Italy, the company would manufacture a range of PVC insulated cables, upto 1.1 kva, to cater to the industrial, commercial and domestic sectors.
Leitz to invest $5 m in Indian arm
Germany-based Leitz, the worldwide leading manufacturer of precision tools and tool systems, would invest about $5 million in its Indian subsidiary over the next three to five years, according to Leitz president Dieter Brucklacher. Brucklacher inaugurated the service centre and manufacturing facility for woodworking tools of the company's 100 per cent subsidiary, Leitz Tooling Systems India Pvt Ltd, at Peenya near Bangalore on Thursday.
JCBL rolls out luxury coach
JCBL Ltd on Friday announced the launch of `Wave 2000,' a luxury coach, and `Mobile Home/Office,' from its millennium generation of mobility solutions. According to its director Rishi Aggarwal, the company has targeted to sell 150 `Wave 2000' coaches in the first year and 50 units of the Mobile Home/Office, which is targeted at the entertainment industry, corporates and politicians.
US company buys out Chennai firm
Even as Indian software companies are talking about acquiring companies in the West, a little known California-based Again Technologies has acquired Chennai-based Software House for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition finalised by the two companies on Thursday in California is one of the first takeover of an Indian software firm by a US company, Again Technologies CEO Gopi Mattel told in New Delhi.
PSIDC operating agency for Nasa
The Appellate Authority for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction has removed State Bank of India from being the operating agency for Nasa Agro Industries Ltd. The AAFIR noted that SBI could not come up with a revival proposal despite many opportunities and asked the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) to get on with the rehabilitation of the sick unit.
