India will host the 19th World Mining Congress in the year 2003. India's turn to host the triennial jamboree of 43 mining countries will come after US, which will hold the conference at Las Vegas next year.``India comes into the big league,'' said chairman of the organising committee of the International Conference on Mining now on in the capital and vice-chairman of the India national committee of the World Mining Congress A K Ghosh, announcing the event.
He pointed out that India was the third largest producer of coal in the world and a significant producer of other minerals too. The World Mining Congress should find nearly 4,000 delegates in India in 2003.
