Legato Systems to invest $40m in India
Legato Systems Inc of the US plans to invest as much as $40 million over the next five years in its Indian operations to take advantage of the surging data storage industry. Legato will expand its Indian sales and marketing operations, besides signing reseller agreements with some of the leading channel partners in India.Informix buys Ardent
Informix has acquired Ardent Software, a leading provider of data warehousing infrastructure. The two will have a combined operating strength of $880 million. Informix will exchange 3.5 shares for each Ardent share. Informix specialises in advanced information management technologies for enterprises.
Merant on acquisition drive
Merant is acquiring EnterpriseLink Technology Corp, a supplier of enterprise extension software. This will help Merant to integrate and extend existing applications to enable enterprises. Merant will pay a cash consideration of $22 million to EnterpriseLink shareholders.
Platt is MD of NGC Asia
Ward Platt has taken over as managing director of National Geographic Channel Asia, a business enterprise of National Geographic TV, Fox Entertainment and NBC. Platt will run the business operations throughout Asia and Middle East.SRA ties up with Carnegie varsitySRA System Ltd, the Chennai-based software house, is now venturing into education segment with a tie up with Carnegie Technology Education, a wing of Carnegie Mellon University, US. SRA is launching a separate division - SRA Carnegie Software Education for the purpose.
