New Delhi, Dec 6: United Breweries will not offer any out-of-court settlement to Chhabria brothers, Kishore and Manu, liquor baron Vijay Mallya said on Monday."I will not meet the Chhabria brothers across the table. Both of them are unreasonable," Mallya told The Financial Express, commenting on the feud between him and the Chhabrias over control of Herbertsons Ltd. "The case is in the court and I will keep fighting," he added.
The United Breweries chairman was in the capital to attend the World Economic Forum meet. The Chhabria brothers recently adopted a common approach in the Calcutta High Court in their fight against Mallya. The feuding brothers have buried their mutual differences and Shaw Wallace & Company Ltd (SWC) chairman Manu Chhabria is now lending support to younger brother Kishore on the Herbertsons front.
On the Rs 250-crore bid by the flagship of the UB group to acquire three Shaw Wallace brands, Mallya said, "We have made a perfectly legitimate offer to take over the SWC brands. SWC has a number of debts, it is facing liquidation, and we are interested in those brands." The UB flagship McDowell & Company has made an offer to acquire three popular Shaw Wallace brands-Royal Challenge, Director's Special and Haywards.
