Premji is Dataquest IT man of the year
Wipro Corporation chairman Azim Premji was on Thursday declared `IT man of the year' by computer magazine Dataquest. ``The IT industry can transform the wealthscape of our country, being as it is in the business of creating and redistributing wealth. It has created more millionaires in India in the last five years than all the industries put together in the last 50 years,'' Premji said receiving the award.

MRTPC inquiry against Reebok
The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has initiated an inquiry against sports and apparel maker Reebok International Ltd for allegedly restraining its Delhi-based licensee from marketing products of competitors. The MRTPC bench comprising chairman AN Divecha and member RL Sudhir recently issued the notice to the England-based international company and its licensee Reebok India Company asking them to reply by February 14, 2000.

Sri Adhikari to issue shares to FIIs
The board of directors of Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network has decided to issue shares to FIIs, mutual funds, foreign and Indian investors on preferential allotment basis. The equity offering will be taken up at the company's extraordinary general meeting on January 7.

Emmsons to set up JV in S Africa
Emmsons International has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company has received the necessary approvals for setting up joint venture company in South Africa with local partner SA Trade (Pty) Limited. The joint venture company - Emmsons International Trading (Pty) - will undertake trading of commodities with special emphasis on rice imports from India.

Frontier to issue shares
The board of Frontier Information Technologies has decided to issue shares not exceeding 30 lakh for cash at a premium through a private placement on preferential basis.

Nicco ties up with Barc, IIT
Nicco Corporation has entered into a technical tie-up with Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (Barc) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to manufacture hi-tech cables for niche clients in defence, railway and speciality industry, a top official has said. `The company has signed a technology agreement with Barc and IIT Kharagpur, to set up a state-of-art unit for making electron beam irradiation cables,'' Nicco chairman Rajive Kaul told.

Hero Honda, Comsat Max pact
Hero Honda has tied up with Comsat Max to use its communication back-bone. Comsat Max has installed TDM/TDMA VSATs at seven locations for various applications like file transfer, e-mail and remote log-in. The connectivity will ensure speedy communication between the main, regional offices and the two-wheelers gaint's factories at Dharuhera and Gurgaon.

Citibank teams up with portals
Citibank has teamed up with Indian portals, Fabmart, Rediff-On-The-Net, SatyamOnline.com and LG Soft to offer e-commerce service under its Suvidha scheme. With this, the Suvidha customers can now pay for their purchases on the Internet from their bank account through debit facility. The bank said in a press release that this would augment the existing facilities of ATM, debit card, phone banking and PC banking through 24-hour access channel.

Nucleus' mobile banking solution
Nucleus Software has launched mobile banking solution, which allows banks to extend their financial intranet to remote users, giving access anytime, anywhere on wireless application protocol devices. The services offered will include e-commerce transactions, stock updates and trading and banking services.

CMC, Boshu Technics join hands
Public sector CMC and Boshu Technics Corp have inked an agreement to promote the latter's DigiOffice 2000 and DigiForms. The digital document management solution, DigiOffice 2000 is a highly scalable with Oracle, MS Sql server and MS Access versions.
