Mumbai, Dec 9: ICICI Bank has launched a web-based remittance facility "money2India" for non-resident Indians (NRIs) for easy transfer of funds to 173 locations in India. The private sector bank has also offered high interest rates on non-resident Indian (NRI) deposits.

"The money2India facility provides the customer a tracking number instantaneously once remittance details are given, to track the progress of the transaction till the funds are delivered to the beneficiary," ICICI Bank senior vice president (retail banking) Mohan Shenoi said.

Shenoy said the remittance to ICICI Bank's account can be arranged through any bank of the customer's choice and neither the NRI nor the beneficiary in India needs to have an account with the bank. ICICI Bank is offering six per cent interest on US dollar deposits under FCNR scheme for maturity ranging from one year to three years and 11 per cent on NRE and NRNR deposits.

ICICI Bank, which has over 10,000 NRI web customers, also offers on line account opening facility. Shenoi said the web banking facility would also be introduced for resident Indians soon.
