DCM Shriram Consolidated enters value-added services

Sanjay Sardana
New Delhi, Dec 16: The Delhi-based DCM Shriram Consolidated (DSCL) has announced its foray into the value-added business, with environment services spearheading a major growth thrust.

The company has initiated a strategic shift from centralised set up to strategic business units, commodities to specialties, product manufacturer to solution/service provider and from product/project to a business platform approach. As part of its environment services initiative, DCM Shriram consolidated has announced the launch of Ecorite-the first ever third generation PAC-based water treatment chemicals in India.

There is a tremendous business potential for Ecorite considering the burgeoning demand for treated water, both for drinking and industrial purposes. "The company further proposes to enhance capacity to 37,000 tpa to 1,00,000 tpa over the next few years which will entail a capital outlay of close to Rs 50 crore," DSCL vice-chairman and managing director Ajay S Shriram, said.

After the completion of expansion, Ecorite is expected to add close to Rs 90 crore additional revenue to the company's turnover.
