Hyundai launches Santro in Italy
Setting a sales target of 92,000 units in Europe for the year 2000, Hyundai Santro has been launched in Italy under the brand name of Atos Prime. The car would be introduced all over Europe in the next three months. Hyundai Motor Company expects sales of Atos Prime to outstrip the existing Atos model in Europe. The Santro/Atos Prime developed for the Indian market in 1998 and powered by the 1000cc Epsilon engine, will give an added edge to HMC in the international mini-car segment where Atos is the only model presently.Trac Fujico unveils Hyundai's ACs
The Bangalore-based Trac Fujico Airsystems on Thursday announced the launch of the country's first HCFC-free air conditioners under the Hyundai brand name. The new product is in line with the legislation envisaged by the Montreal protocol, which envisages phasing out of Hydro Chloro Fluoro Carbon (HCFC) compound widely used as a refrigerant, a company statement said, adding HCFCs contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer.
Salora gets golden status
The ministry of commerce has recognised Salora as a golden status export house from November 1999. Last year, Salora exported 50,000 black and white televisions to Bangladesh, Vietnam, Singapore, Sri Lanka among others.
Oberoi to snap ties with Novopan
Oberoi Hotels group has decided to terminate the technical service agreement with Novopan Industries for the Krishna Oberoi, Hyderabad, with effect from March 31 next year. EIH, the company running Oberoi Hotels, and Novopon had entered into agreement to end the pact, deciding to pursue and develop own niches, EIH said.
LMI awards
Munjal Showa managing director Yogesh Munjal has bagged national client of the year award for 1999. The award, constituted by the US-based Leadership Management International (LMI), was given away by Hero group chairman Brijmohan Lall on Wednesday. While LMI client of the year award for large corporate was received by Tata Lucent Technologies general manager Sushil Jain, Albatross Fine Chem MD bagged medium corporate prize.
