Nimbus in pact with UK distributor
Nimbus Creative Corporation will be supplying Malayalam programming worth $572,000 to UK distributor Orion Entertainment, the largest-ever export order received by an Indian company for regional television software. Nimbus will be shipping 300 hours of Malayalam programming for the territories licensed to Orion, which include West Asia, Europe (excluding England), Australia and New Zealand. Said Uday Sinh Wala, senior vice-president: "We are projecting our regional language library to generate exports of Rs 4 crore a year and domestic reruns to fetch Rs 2 crore. Our total exports, including Hindi programming, are being targeted at Rs 8 crore a year and total domestic reruns business of Rs 6 crore from the year 2000. We hope to achieve an annual growth rate of 15 per cent."

Microsoft launch
Microsoft India on Thursday launched its `Foxpro Advantage Program' aimed at helping organisations migrate from Foxpro database management system to its own database management system - SQL Server.

PC-in-the-Loop
Cranes Software International Ltd has introduced PC-in-the-Loop, a new environment which enables DSP engineers to perform rapid phototyping and system-level testing of real-time embedded systems on a PC. It would allow software development and testing activities to continue in parallel to hardware design.

Integra Micro Systems
Bangalore-based Integra Micro Systems has launched FIDO2001-LITF, a document management system for the benefit of small users. It offers a fully scalable imaging solution for storing, retrieving and accessing small to large volumes of information. It has multi-level security, ensuring that no unauthorised access occurs.

Pagelink bags Techies 99 award
Pagelink has been adjudged the best paging service provider and awarded "Techies 99" award instituted by IT and Telecom Information Communications World published by Media TransAsia. The award was received by chairman & managing director Deepak Malhotra in New Delhi. The company has also launched an e-mail service, with which a subscriber can receive his e-mail directly on his pager.

Tata Lucent's new manufacturing unit
Tata Lucent Technologies, a joint venture between the Tata group and Lucent Technologies, has inaugurated its new premises for manufacturing switching equipment in Bangalore. The new facility at the International Tech Park will have a capacity to produce 1 million lines per annum.

MTV India appointment
MTV India has appointed Vikram Raizada as director marketing. Raizada takes over from Niren Hiro who moved MTV Network Asia office in Singapore as senior director, corporate marketing. Raizada will report to MTV India managing director Alex Kuruvilla and will be responsible for spearhading MTV India's marketing team.

Comsat to VSAT-link Whirlpool offices
Whirlpool has chosen Comsat Max for providing very VSAT connectivity linking their main office to nine locations across the country. The network will allow Whirlpool to ensure all data pertaining to sales, distribution, production, HR is readily available.
