N Madhavan
Chennai, December 16: Indian Bank is taking a hard look at its subsidiaries viz, Indbank Housing, Indbank Mutual Fund and Indbank Merchant Banking Ltd and is open to disposing them off.

According to top bank officials, a study has been initiated to arrive at the quantum of assets and liabilities of the three companies. Though Indbank Housing is in a comparatively better shape, the other two subsidiaries are not. Indbank Mutual Fund is caught in a row with Sebi on assured returns in some of its schemes.

For Ind-Jyoti scheme, the bank has already chipped in Rs 40 crore to meet the funds redemption commitments. But it is learnt that RBI has questioned the bank's decision for accounting the bailout funding as investments in its books.
