REC sanctions Rs 146 crore for 79 projects 

 
January 3: The Rural Electrification Corporation on Monday sanctioned Rs 146 crore for implementation of 79 projects spread over 11 states. The states for which electrification and load development projects were sanctioned are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab and Rajasthan. With this, the corporation has so far sanctioned 711 projects for total financial assistance of about Rs 1,440 crore, a press statement said.
