Essar Steel's record dispatch 

 
January 7: Essar Steel achieved a record despatch of 2,02,961 tonnes of hot-rolled coils for the month of December 1999, a record for the two million tonne per annum steel maker.

Out of this, the company exported approximately 1,00,000 or 50 per cent tonnes to discerning markets of the US and Europe at prices of $50-60 higher than the average realisations of the first six months.
