Chemicals & fertiliser ministry to set up export promotion cell

Mumbai, Jan 7: The union chemicals and fertilisers ministry has firmed upplans to set up an internal export promotion cell with an aim to increaseexports of chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers andalcohol-based products by five times in the coming five years.

"We are taking up the issue of setting up the cell on apriority basis and itshould be functional in a few months time," Union Minister of chemicals andfertilisers, Suresh Prabhu, said at an export awards function organised bythe Plastics Exports Promotion Council on Friday.

The cell would scan the international markets for export potential andprovide useful inputs to the Indian exporters on market trends and prices soas to keep them abreast of the latest events in their sector, he explained.
