JANUARY 16: International leisurewear brand Lacoste has put the humble Indian kurta onto the fashion scene with the launch of the Lacoste Kurta set. This is the result of a two-year collaborative effort between designers in India and France. While the Delhi design studio worked on the fit, style ans drape, French technologists concentrated on the technical specifications of the fabric. The result: a garment, made of superlight cotton fabric, that `is comfortable enough to sleep in yet sophisticated enough for evening wear' says the company.
The kurta has been introduced in the basic colours of black and white. Other variants will follow.
