Ministry plans to cut GPF, EPF rates 

 
JANUARY 19: Having reduced the interest rates on small savings and the public provident fund by 100 basis points, the finance ministry is now contemplating lowering the rates for the general provident fund and employees provident fund. It is being argued that the interest rates need to be cut by 1 per cent to bring them in line with the rates prevailing in the sister schemes.
