Review of petro dealers' boards
JANUARY 19: The Centre has decided to review the functioning of the Dealers' Selection Boards for appointments of dealers for petroleum products, including LPG and kerosene, to ensure that these fulfilled the purpose for which they were constituted. Minister for petroleum and natural gas Ram Naik said in an interview to UNI on Wednesday that 30 of 53 such boards were not functioning effectively. After review, some of these might be reconstituted, he added. Such a board comprised a retired high court judge of the concerned state or a district judge and two representatives of an oil company. Meanwhile, the centre has worked out a plan to liquidate the waiting list for 11 million LPG connections in the country by December. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
