Nod for Renuka dam proposal awaited
JANUARY 19: The Himachal Pradesh government has requested the Centre to grant approval for construction of Rs 1224-crore Renuka dam proposal so that work on the project could be started at the earliest. Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the issue was discussed in a meeting with Union water resources minister C P Thakur as on completion of project the water demand of national capital territory Delhi would be fully met.He said that Himachal would supply 54,250 crore litre of water annually to Delhi from Renuka dam on completion of project. Dhumal said that the dam would be constructed over Giri river in Sirmaur district of state in 6 years.
