Mumbai, January 19: In less than a week after Hungama.com bought over leading Bollywood portal Indiafm.com, the site has lined a series of ePromotions for the release of forthcoming films Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Pukar. Says Hungama's chief executive officer Neeraj Roy: ``The objective is to keep the interest level of people towards the film alive during all periods: pre-release, during the release, and post-release.''All this while, the portal used to only list the new releases as and when they were scheduled. Hungama's new strategy: the film/product to interact with the people. On January 17, it began the Hindustani Vs Phirangi interactive promo which allows the surfer to collect Hungama cyber points by clicking only on the Hindustani images consisting of Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla instead of the Phirangi images appearing simultaneously. It has a timer attached. The second promotion is a Pacman kind of game on the site where Shah Rukh Khan is seen gobbling off different kind of things. Says Roy: ``Since it is a fun film, it made sense for us to introduce certain funny elements in the contests.'' The company has roped in Akai to sponsor events, contests and prizes for ePromotions of the particular film.
For Pukar which is due for release next month, a curtain raiser of the promotions are on. Says Roy: ``We are building up the tempo for the film now. So the focus now is on music of the film and stars.'' Sansui is sponsoring the prizes for the promotions. The company has its gameplan clear: Build excitement prior to the release of the film. Get corporates to sponsor prizes both in the physical and virtual world.
According to Roy: ``We need to convince the film production houses into allocating a certain budget towards ePromotions.'' Another area that the company could be looking for is tying up with other Websites for services.
The company expects to get involved in projects right from the start. It could be six months from inception of the film or two weeks prior to release.Even as the e-promotions for the films are on, it is in the process of giving Indiafm.com a new look in terms of design and content. At present, Indiafm.com is a stand alone portal but within 2-3 months, it is expected to become a channel of Hungama.com.
Hungama: Hungry for venture capital?
In less than a week after Hungama.com took over Indiafm.com, the former is on the lookout for venture funding. Even as details are not disclosed, Neeraj Roy says: ``We are looking at partners/alliances who will share our vision of becoming the ultimate marketing company on the Web.''
