IOC's move to preserve monuments
JANUARY 20: Indian Oil Corporation had created a trust called the IndianOil Foundation to preserve and promote national heritage. Union minister for petroleum and natural gas Ram Naik and Union minister for culture, sports and youth affairs, Ananth Kumar jointly inaugurated the foundation, which will work in association with the National Culture Fund and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). To begin with the foundation will adopt eight heritage monuments, namely the Qutab Minar in Delhi, the Khajuraho caves in Maharashtra, Hampi in Karnataka, Nalanda in Bihar, Rani-ki-Vav in Gujarat, the Elephanta Caves in Maharashtra, Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh.
