FEBRUARY 21: New Delhi Gautam S Dalal will succeed Sridar A Iyengar as chairman and CEO of KPMG Indiafrom April 1, 2000, according to a company release on Monday. Dalal is currently a senior partner in the assurance practice of KPMG's UK operations based in London. He returns to India after three years having been part of KPMG's initial team of partners who started the India operations in 1993. Gautam will be based in Mumbai."KPMG's India operation is a case study on how professional services firms should enter an emerging market", says Gautam, "We have over the last 6-7 years used our `Turning knowledge into value' concept to build a significant high performance practice which is a market leader in many areas. Our client list includes some of the most exciting corporates in India. My goal over the next few years will be to continue the rapid growth at a time when India itself is most optimistic about its future".
Gautam had joined KPMG in 1979 and became a partner in 1990. Sridar Iyengar who ahs been chairman & CEO since April 1997 is returning to his Silicon Valley base to set up and lead a practice focussed on serving emerging companies.
