MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 3: Infosys Technologies Ltd has announced that it is currently evaluating Onscan - a comprehensive notification service for web users, as a product proposal from a group of its employees.Infosys Technologies chairman and chief executive officer NR Narayana Murthy said: "We had earlier announced our intention to incubate some of the business ideas of our employees and mentor them. Onscan is one such proposal," he added.
Onscan is a comprehensive notification service for web users. Onscan notifies a user when anything of their interest unfolds on the web. The notification can be received anywhere - on the desktop, pager, mobile phone or e-mail.
By providing only the requested information through the requested medium, Onscan ensures that web users will "never miss out, ever again." It is not currently known whether Infosys Technologies would market this product in India.
The technology giant had earlier announced its intention to use incubation funding as a strategy to increase Infosys' awareness of a particular technology, as well as to continue having a stake in its high potential talent.
Recently, Infosys has sought a blanket approval from the Union government to raise the investment limit for overseas acquisitions up to $1 billion by the domestic firms.
