Vatsa-Cyberlogy to set up 100 institutes
Vatsa Corporation Ltd plans to set up over 100 institutes across India as part of its strategic alliance with Cyberlogy Institute of the US. The move to impart knowledge and skills of accessing and effectively utilising the Internet. The tie-up is a result of growing demand for quality software education in India. Faculty from the US-based company shall be deployed during the initial stages to train the local instructors.

Amara Raja Batteries in JV with Ramco Applications
Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) and Ramco System announced a partnership to implement Ramco E Applications, an integrated ERP solution for the former. The Ramco E Applications solution will cover all Amara Raja group companies which include Amara Raja Batteries Ltd, Amara Raja Power Systems (P) Ltd, Harsha Electronics (P) Ltd and Mangal Electro as well as the CF Warehouse Locations of the company. Jay Galla, executive director at said that the strategy was also the result of a detailed exercise undertaken by key personnel in-house to determine directions for the future.
Big increase in Doordarshan viewership
In a period of last seven months there has been a dramatic and steady increase of doordarshan viewership. In the time band 9.00 pm to midnight on DD-1, the increase been 57 per cent between June 1999 and January 2000 in the metros and mini-metros. Accordingly to Television Audience Measurement (TAM), the average number of viewers to DD-1 in this time band in the nine cities was 25.68 lakhs in June 1999 and this has steadily increased to 40.39 lakh in January 2000.
This increase has been mainly because of the three-pronged strategy vigorously pursued by Prasar Bharati; to improve the reception quality of Doordarshan signals in cable connected homes, improvement in the presentation of Doordarshan channels, and inclusion of a wide variety of new software on DD-1, offering a bouquet of programme catering to all sections of viewers. TAM System which was earlier covering only 9 cities has since been extended to 27 cities with a population of one lakh and above. In these 27 cities also there is similar trend the average number of viewers to DD-1 in the time band 8.00 pm to midnight was 54.75 lakhs in August 1999 (when the System was extended to 27 cities) and has increased to 78.96 lakhs in January 2000.
