Hyderabad, March 3: The Andhra Pradesh government has set up a two-tier mechanism to draw up an IT blue-print to accelerate industry growth and implementation of e-governance in the state. The preparation and implementation of the blue print is to be taken up by three separate committees.The first of these, the AP First committee, comprises some of the top names in the Indian IT fraternity such as FC Kohli of TCS, Wipro's Azim Premji, N R Narayana Murthy of Infosys and Satyam's Ramalinga Raju apart from the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Nasscom president Dewang Mehta.The apex committee will drive architecturing, guiding and monitoring of the overall development in the IT sector, a government note said.
AP First will formulate the state IT policy, promote investment in IT industries, clear major proposals and plans of government departments, promote centres of excellence in IT education and citizen-centric projects.Apart from this, the AP government has set up an executive committee comprising senior bureaucrats which will monitor the progress on major IT projects. The Information Technology Promotion Committee (ITPC), will draw up the architechture for the "ITfication" of individual departments.
ITPC will take up the following activities involving evolve/design IT architecture, examining proposals for major investments, IT plans, design excellence centres, promote infrastructure, review projects, approve technical standards, and evolve norms for cost-effective implementation.
The third committee is departmental committee of IT (C-IT) to meet their actual requirements, which will have a Cabinet minister, department heads, IT nominees and chief information officer. The references for this committee include designing of IT plans for the departments, review of the progress of ongoing IT projects, HRD required for e-governance, approval of major IT projects relating to the departments.
