BANGALORE, MARCH 3: Limitless Software Inc, the parent company of LimitlessSoftware India Pvt Ltd, is aiming to become a leader in the educationsoftware industry in India, according to the American company's chiefexecutive officer Kellogg Fairbank.Fairbank told The Financial Express that India was a very important marketfor the company as the country had no national perspective as far aseducation was concerned.
According to him, India's education spend was around Rs 10,000 crore perannum on text books and educational equipment (from kindergarten to standard12) as against $700 billion in the US. Parents in the US spend over $300billion on their children's schooling, he said. Limitless Software was inthe process of developing an educational portal for school children. TheIndian and US versions of the portal were expected to be up by December, hesaid.
Limitless Software India managing director Josua Barton said to networkIndian schools, the company would get into strategic and technical allianceswith a number of firms in the areas of software hardware support,implementation and network solution providers. Currently, the company hastie-ups with IBM and NIIT to work for schools. The company was also workingin association with Wipro GE Medical Systems for its CRM initiatives.
Fairbank said about 200 schools were using the company's education software- Specs - on a test basis in India. "We are targeting 60 lakh students(kindergarten to 12th level) wiring 10,000 schools across the country,''he said. He said the company was expecting a revenue of $8 million fromIndia in the first year and reach $300 million in five years, he said.
``Once India and the US are fully covered, we will look at Europe and otherAsian countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia and KualaLampur.'' Limitless Software Inc is in talks with some venture capital firmsand strategic partners in the US and Europe. The company was also lookingfor private placements and was in talks with over a dozen institutions, hesaid.
