Infosys may fund staff proposal for online software 

 
BANGALORE, MARCH 4: Computer software firm Infosys Technologies Ltd isconsidering funding a proposal from its employees to promote an onlinenotification software, a company statement said.

"Infosys is currently evaluating (to promote) "Onscan", a comprehensivenotification service for Web users, as a product proposal from a group ofits employees," the company said late on Friday. "We had earlier announcedour intention to incubate some of the business ideas of our employees andmentor them. Onscan is one such proposal," N R Narayana Murthy, Infosyschairman and chief executive officer, said in the statement.

The statement said Infosys intended to use "incubation" funding as astrategy to increase Infosys' awareness to a particular technology, as wellas to continue having a stake in its high potential talent.

It did not give financial details of the funding proposal. Onscan notifiesInternet users when anything of their interest unfolds on the Web, saidInfosys that provides IT consultancy to Fortune 1,000 and dot-com companies."The notification can be received anywhere... on the desktop, pager, mobilephone or e-mail. By providing only the requested information at therequested medium, Onscan wants to ensure that Web users will never miss out(information) ever again," the statement said."It said Onscan could bedownloaded free of charge from www.onscan.com.
