KOCHI, MARCH 6: The first full-fledged NRI service portal is being launched soon by the newly-floated Care Connections Private Ltd based in Kochi. The e-commerce-enabled site will also offer, for the first time in India, a local language e-mail service.Care Connections is offering at its Website www.icareindia.com a view of the services that will be ready for use within three months. The services that will be available range from comprehensive healthcare package to taking care of the a NRI's real estate requirements.
The entire range of designs and software for the project is being developed since July last year by a team dedicated engineers from Care Connections. "The software for the portal is being developed exclusively by a team of engineers at Care Connections," said an official of the company here on Monday. A Website icareindia.com has already been registered along with a subsidiary site careconnections.com, he said.
Care Connections is keen to develop the design and software on its own "to demonstrate our ability to compete with the best in the knowledge-based industry," the Care Connections official said. He, however, said that Care Connections is using the help of freelance consultants to make the services state-of-the-art.
The NRI service portal will also have an e-mail service in the local language for the first time in India. This facility will be available in the second phase of the ambitious project. The first programme to be developed will be in Malayalam and is aimed at the over four million NRIs from Kerala living in the Gulf, Europe and North America.
Care Conncections is an enterprise floated by a group of former and present NRIs with a view to offer comprehensive service, said K Nandan, chairman of the newly-floated outfit and an ex-chairman of the Federal Bank.
Care Connections will offer the entire range of services required by its customers from arranging transport service from the airport to getting a mobile telephone connection. There will be upto date news on educational opportunities, admissions to professional and other educational institutions as well as a comprehensive package for healthcare.
A full-range of real estate related services would be offered by Care Connections. The company will arrange the design and construction of houses under its supervision. Property documentation, obtaining permissions, necessary sanctions and utility payments will all be done by Care Connections.
Initially, Care Connections is opening three offices at Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode for executing the services. There will also be 200 franchisees within the state in the first phase of implementing the project, Nandan said. In the second phase, offices will be opened in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.
