Pentasoft makes move to network AP govt depts

CHENNAI, MARCH 6: Pentasoft Technologies Ltd has put up proposals to Andhra Pradesh government for introducing e-governance in the state. This is viewed by the company as a major initiative in its efforts to get into working with the state government on its objective of networking various government departments and making information access to the public quicker and easier.

With this objective, it wants to bring to e-governance and e-commerce, the company has decided to shift its Hyderabad office to a newly-acquired building. Says director for international operations, D Kannan, most of the infrastructure required for this shift in focus has been put in place and the AP government has agreed to source the company's strengths for its networking projects and information update plans. The plan is to cover Hyderabad and surrounding areas in the first six months and in the next six months reach out to link up the whole of the state.

The company plans to focus on developing some major cities like Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai as hub cities to serve as nodal points for its e-commerce and e-business activities. "There is a lot more opportunities in the domestic market and we expect to be ready to take on initiatives to give us an edge in e-commerce and e-business in the country," he said to The Financial Express.

For this, the company is also exploring the option of tying up with top telecom majors so as to be competitive for delivering to the customers on time. The company wants application of its products and services be Web-enabled because integrating with the Internet has now become a priority. It has begun talks with US firms for this so that it can train its professionals for customisation and integration for the domestic market.

Says Kannan, globally the trend is towards facility management and in India, too the idea is catching up as corporates want service providers to suggest turnkey solutions. The company too is exploring the possibility where hardware and software can be bundled together and systems integration and solutions provided. More development centres are planned. While Hyderabad will be focussing mainly on e-commerce, Bangalore will cater to telecom-needed solutions. Mumbai will deal in financial services, Delhi in government related projects and ERP.
