Crime check via Net -- Rajasthan shows the way

JAIPUR, MARCH 6: An Internet-based system to keep tabs on the criminals-Aarakshi-has been developed here by the information technology department of the Rajasthan government. It enables the field officers of the police department to access information and database containing FIRs, criminals' records, vehicle thefts, missing persons' records.

"Even the Delhi Police (Southern range) has shown its interest utilise the the Net revolution to apprehend the growing tribe of culprits in the capital", says RK Singh, director of the IT department. The department has made a presentation on `Aaraskhi' to the South Delhi police. In Jaipur, 70 police stations are making use of `Aaraskhi' and the reports received speak about its high utility. The plus point about the software is that it could be used in Hindi. The National Crime Record Bureau has aslo shown interest.
