Infosys will provide Avici its global delivery model, a virtual 24 hour workday support, scalability and flexibility, Avici needs through its time-boxing model, a methodology for delivering rapid functionality to the business in time-frames the company specifies.

These companies will work on the integration testing of Avici's terabit switch/router switch features. Infosys has been preferred for its quality processes and delivery model, an Avici official said.

Avici Systems Inc is headquartered in North Billerica, Massachusetts and provides multi-terabit switch/router technology for the next generation high-performance, Internet Protocol-based carrier networks.

The company recently shipped its first terabit switch/router. Avici says that its patented technology, with superior scalability, resilience and port density, is enabling the first optical "speed-of-light" Internet backbone. The company has been projecting the routers as the best choice for worldwide facilities-based carriers and ISPs.

The CMM Level 5 certified Infosys has been expanding its base of services recently abroad by offering services such as IT consulting to Fortune 1000 and growing dot-com companies. Other Infy services include architecture, application development e-commerce, Internet consulting and software maintenance.

Under the Infosys Global Delivery Model, the company combines the professionals and infrastructure put up in in different parts of the world to provide quality and rapid time- to-market solutions. Infosys has its US headquarters Fremont, California apart from its other offices across the US.
