Vishwas Steel to launch B2C portal

Suresh Nair
Mumbai, March 6: Sellilng steel on the Net seems to be the mantra for the steel industry. After www.e-steel.com, reuters.com and lme.com, it is now the turn of Vishwasmetalonline.com. The Rs 244-crore Vishwas Steel plans to launch its Website over the next two weeks.

The company has set up a vertical portal which will give a wide range of information on the over all metal industry, Vishwas Steel managing director Punit Chadha said. The portal has been conceptualised by a consultant in the middle-east.

The company claims that the portal will bridge the gap betwen the supplier and the buyer by focussing on the business to consumer (B2C) segment. It will also provide industry news, information on manufacturing and technology, market place, tenders, public policies, quality certification and industry statistics, world map, publication and software, glossary of metallurgical terms, financial packages for metal industries besides auction and a host of other information.

The whole industry seems to be jumping to the Net bandwagon. There are quite a few sights where one can trade metal and even scrap from your factory to a trader in the USA. If one is contemplating to set up a scrap business but does not know whom to sell the stuff, information could just a click away, a steel industry analyst said.

Vishwasmetalonline.com will have a circular domain system. In other words, if any major metal term is used, it will automatically lead the user to this vertical portal.
