Dominating duniya -- Proto Cadmus Tech plans 10 new portals

Veeshal Bakshi
New Delhi, March 10: Proto Cadmus Technologies, a Delhi-based information technology company, plans to launch over 10 portals focussing on pets, educations, property, computers, shopping, shares and cars. The first portal, petsduniya.com, will be launched shortly. Proto Cadmus' director Sandhaya Arora told The Financial Express that the company has decided to form a community of portals which it has styled as a "constellation" as opposed to the conventional "Web ring" concept.

All the portals are in the duniya (World) series. The reason for splitting one specific class of information to one portal was to achieve and deliver to the users a level of expert information. This would fulfill the needs of both the actual users as well as the surfers.

For example, petsduniya.com will not only be an online store for purchase of pets. Some of the unique features of the portal will be columns on pet obituary, information on pet cemetries, pet contests, pet club, an advertisement section and a free classified service for sale and purchase of pets. Educationduniya.com will provide online courses to students from Class X onwards including graduation courses.

Students will be provided online information and tutorial assistance on their subjects. Another portal "einstienonthenet.com" will be launched with the aim of developing mind-game contests, Arora said. This site will be designed to introduce a concept of "memory quotient" where the users gets a chance to enhance memory through participation in the contests. An online bookstore, kitabstore.com, is being developed to provide a data base on all sorts of books in the country and sell these on-line.

Arora said an innovative feature of this site would be e-publishing of computer books which will be upgraded regularly, providing a complete library to the IT industry.

A portal on cookery and food recipes is also being planned.

Khanekiduniya.com, the site would deliver cooked foods and pickles through a call centre route and provide a complete information package on food and ingredients, the recipes and cooking instructions. According to Arora, the company would take on board business partners as it develops different types of portals.
