Bangalore, March 10: Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) is in talks with around 10 large automobile companies in India and overseas for collaborative product commerce (CPC) implementation, according to PTC India managing director Kishore Rao.Rao told The Financial Express that the company was also in talks with a large number implementation partners and by September over 70 per cent of the deals were expected to be through.
Currently, PTC has eight customers (for CPC) in India, while it has over 500 clients overseas in the areas of discrete manufacturing (automotives and consumer electronics) including Sona Steering and Lucas TVS. The company has already gone online with Jyothi Engineering and later the facility would be extended to all its clients, he said.
PTC has Tata Technology, DSQ Software and Satyam Computers as its implementation partners. "A large number of companies have evinced interest to partner with us in CPC implementation and we will soon zero in on four of them,'' Rao said.
Rao said the company also was looking at a couple of large Indian firms to make them global implementation partners. ``We will also consider our existing implementation partners to support us globally. By end April we will select the right partners considering their global exposure,'' he said.
Rao said being a B2B solution, CPC would allow external agencies to work collaboratively connecting different vendors and departments in different geographical locations. ``CPC will facilitate not just a cosmetic change but complete customisation,'' he said.
He said CPC was a new category of software and services that leverage Internet technology to tie together product design, engineering, sourcing, sales and marketing.
During October-Septemberm the company was aiming at a turnover of $250 million global revenue from CPC alone against $80 million last year. Globally, CPC is a $1 trillion market of which PTC has a share at $15-20 billion. Its flagship CAD CAM product Pro Engineer alone had posted a sales turnover of $1 billion during last year against the total CAD CAM market of $5 billion. Both CTC and CAD CAM put together, the company was targeting $1.3 billion in business, he said.
