ORG-Gfk to update retail audit panel

Chandan Dubey
Mumbai, Mar 13: In an effort to update its panel of dealers, market audit major ORG-Gfk is planning to reach out to the large retailers of consumer electronics and household appliances in Mumbai and Delhi.

The company will make presentations to the trade on `using data for better negotiation' at a Millennium Retailer Conference to be organised sometime later this month.

As part of the effort, the agency will address close to 30 to 40 of the top retailers in Mumbai and Delhi each, who do not form part of its retail audit panel for the consumer durable industry.

Says ORG Gfk Marketing Services managing director Sujata Puranik Rakhra: ``We will talk about the relationships that our JV partners Gfk, AG of Germany have with large retail chains, worldwide, and how this empowers retailers to take better business decisions. We would like to allay the apprehensions that some retailers who have not yet agreed to be on our panel might have.''

The agency has also invited some of its clients to present theirperspective on the ORG-Gfk retail audit data to the trade.

ORG Gfk's panel comprises a total of 2,000 consumer durable retailers in the Indian market - a fact that has been a thorn in the side of consumer electronics majors like Videocon International Limited. VIL and its associate company Kitchen Appliances had initiated legal action against ORG-Gfk last year for alleged mis-representation of their market share figures.
