Sensex recovers 65 pts, markets stay jittery
The day after the bloodbath, the Sensex on Wednesday recovered 65.6 points but the markets remained jittery. Most players viewed the rally with caution as they kept their fingers crossed over the direction Nasdaq would take.
Sensex likely to surge to 4886 points today
The Sensex recovered to close at 4757, posting a gain of 65 points day over day. Intra-day, it slipped to 4602. Opening at 4616, lower than the previous close of 4692, it raced up to a high of 4853 in the first one hour of trading.
Demerger may not help Sterlite Industries
Will the news of restructuring reverse the downtrend in Sterlite Industries? The scrip had reached a peak of Rs 1260, and has now moved down to Rs 650 level. The company has declared results for the six-months period ended December 19999. Net profit has risen 66 per cent to Rs.118 crore.
