A matter of declining interest
Following the reduction in the bank rate by a full percentage point, the term lending institutions have announced an equivalent cut in their prime. The commercial banks have been somewhat tight-fisted, paring the short term lending rate by 75 basis points and the medium term lending rate by 50 basis points.
