Chandigarh, April 28: To beat the heat, home appliances major AB Electrolux has launched the Super Cool, Master Cool and Cool Deluxe models of Kelvinator brand of refrigerators in Chandigarh and the Punjab region.Simultaneously, the group has also launched its complete portfolio of home appliances in the region under its Electrolux, Kelvinator and Allwyn brands.The new launches include three models of refrigerators under the Kelvinator brand, three cyclic and conventional models of refrigerators under the Allwyn brand, with the latest DCTS technology, besides 12 refrigerators in the frost-free and conventional categories.
Positioned as the 3D cooling system, the new Kelvinator refrigerators - Super Cool, Master Cool and Cool Deluxe - are available in 175 litres and 220 litres and are targeted at the lower end of the market. It has also introduced a 195 litres and 225 litres frost-free range to capture the lower end of the frost-free market.
Ram Ramsundar, CEO of Electrolux Limited, described the launch as ``a reinforcement of Electrolux' commitment to offer technologically advanced and value added products.'' He said Electrolux, the Mercedes Benz of home appliances, is positioned to cater to the premium-end consumer. The company is introducing under this brand, top of the line frost-free, double door refrigerators in two models.Besides refrigerators, state-of-art models of dishwashers, microwave ovens, cooking ranges and deep freezers will also be launched under the Electrolux brand. By June 2000, the brand would also introduce the world renowned White Westinghouse room air-conditioners. This year the company is geared up to sell 5,000 units of the Electrolux range ofproducts.
Commenting on the performance of the group, the Electrolux CEO said the group had a share of 31 per cent in the market, and a 37 per cent share in Punjab. Rajiv Jain, branch head of the Chandigarh office, said the group had sold about 84,000 units last year and this year's target was put at more than 1 lakh units in Punjab alone.
With a turnover last year of Rs 650 crore, the group has set its target this year at Rs 1,000 crore. In reply to a question, Ramsundar ruled out the possibility of setting up facilities in Punjab in the immediate future though the state accounted for the highest percentage of share of Electrolux products.
