Pune, April 30: Kirloskar Pneumatic Co Ltd (KPCL) has recorded a turnaround performance and registered a profit of Rs 63 lakh for the year ended March 31, 2000. Last year the company had registered a loss of Rs 17.50 crore.Net sales and income from operations have gone up marginally to Rs 130.56 crore from Rs 129.60 crore. Total expenditure during the year has come down significantly from previous year's Rs 143.78 crore to Rs Rs 120.33 crore on a higher sales turnover during the year ending March 31, 2000. The company has registered gross profit of Rs 4.32 crore this year compared to a loss suffered last year to the tune of Rs 13.83 crore. During the year, the air compressor business of the KPCL was given on licence to KG Khosla Compressors Ltd so the results of the year ending March 31, 2000 was not considered to be comparable with the previous year's results.
According to the chairman and managing director Rahul C Kirloskar, the company had a good order board position and expected good inflow of orders during the coming months. Meanwhile, Kirloskar Oil Engines (KOEL) has registered a five-fold jump in net profit for the year ended March 31, 2000.
Net profit has gone up to Rs 83.22 crore from Rs 15.79 crore in the previous year. KOEL also announced an interim dividend of 35 per cent for year ended March 31, 2000 at the board meeting held here on Saturday.
Net profit has jumped due to profit on sale of investment during the year to the tune of Rs 69.16 crore. Net profit before this extraordinary item is Rs 20.86 crore compared to previous year's Rs 15.92 crore. The total sales and other operating income has gone up marginally by 3.65 per cent to Rs 745.13 crore from Rs 718.87 crore. Gross profit has gone up from Rs 41.78 crore to Rs 47.69 crore.
