Atcom Technologies gets `Class A license'
Atcom Technologies (formerly ATCO Industries) has got the `class A license' to offer Internet services. Class A license entitles the Mumbai-based company to offer services anywhere in India.However, the company has no plans to enter the retail market for Internet connections. The company will use the Internet services largely for its captive use. Atcom is also working on wireless application protocol (WAP) technology.

Infotech launches portal-centric education
Infotech Global (India) (IGI) Limited, a subsidiary of its USA principal, in association with University of New Jersey-Rutgers has launched its portal-centric education "www.Igiindia com" in in Bangalore on Tuesday.IGI chairman Ashish Kapoor said that IGI and Rutgers were working closely for some time and have now developed a unique mode of evaluation process, which was far from the conventional examination modeKapoor said IGI's association with Rutgers resulted in opening new avenues for distant education through Internet.

American Power Conversion acquires Advance Power
American Power Conversion (NASDAQ: APCC) announced on Tuesday that the Company has acquired Advance International Group subsidiary, Advance Power, a technological leader of DC-based solutions used in telecommunications and Internet applications, for $75 million in cash.

MTNL denial
MTNL has denied press reports saying that the company has been asked to suspend all GSM project related activities. MTNL officials have reiterated that the first call on the network will be made in June. MTNL has also clarified that while the Department of Telecom Services (DTS) is in the process of ascertaining the veracity of complaints made by some Members of Parliament, the project for the implementation of providing cellular mobile service is proceeding as per pre-determined schedule.
