Pune, May 2: SAP India Pvt Ltd has kicked off its nationwide mySAP.com roadshows for the small and medium enterprise segment. SAP India which is a leading ERP solutions provider for the large segment is now focusing on the Small and medium-scale industry for end to end e-business solutions. SAP is also planning to enter new business areas such as application hosting and setting up market place portals for vertical industries, Tariq Farooqui, head- strategic business, SAP India said."The roadshows are being organised to provide mid-size businesses, a feel of the product," says Farooqui. Doing business on the Net is not about creating good-looking Websites but about re-engineering the entire business process into a robust system that harnesses the enormous opportunities that the connected market place will present, he adds. This product helps companies improve supply chain optimization, increases agility and profitability, Farooqui states.
IDC forecasts fastest growth in this segment over the next three years and SAP wants to have a major chunk of this market. SAP India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAP AG, and also its fastest growing subsidiaries worldwide, has made inroads into the Indian SME market. It has increased its market share from 10 per cent in 1998 to over 40 per cent in 2000 with 50 per cent of its 200 customers coming from the SME segment. After consolidating its position in the metros the company is now moving into B and C class towns for which the roadshows are being held.
The mySAP.com Internet business strategy comprises four key elements mySAP.com workplace, mySAP.com marketplace, mySAP.com business scenarios and mySAP.com application hosting. mySAP.com workplace is an enterprise portal that provides users with a personalised Web-browser-based work environment while mySAP.com marketplace is an open electronic B2B hub for enabling inter-company relationships for buying, selling and communicating while mySAP.com business scenarios enable collaborative role-based B2B and B2C solutions through SAP.
SAP's mySAP.com will be implemented by 17 partners across India with HCL Infosystems handling majority of the implementation. The roadshows across the country is being jointly held by Microsoft, HCL Infosystem and Hewlett Packard. From Pune, the roadshows move to Baroda, Mumbai, Indore, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Delhi and Lucknow.
