eComServer Inc to go in for $7m in VC funding

Hyderabad, May 2: Leading B2B e-commerce company, eComServer Inc., is to go in for a second round of venture funding to the tune of $7 million, part of which will be used to expand its operations in India through the existing 100 per cent subsidiary.

The second round is expected to be through by July this year, Harish Fabiani, chairman eComServer Inc., told media persons today.

Aggressive plans are being charted out for eComServer India which should be adding on at least 600 engineers more to its existing 100 by next year, Fabiani explained.

"We hope to post revenues over $50 million by the third year of operations and that kind of growth would require additional funding", Fabiani said. The company is expected to touch $12 million in the current year while a turnover target of between $ 25 million to $27 million has been set for the next year, Nixon Patel, President and CEO, added.

eComServer is planning premises of it own next to the present location at the Hi-Tec City here, while its foray into training through new arm, eComXperts, launched here today, the company is looking for additional resources.

An initial investment of Rs 2 crore has gone into eComExpert while another Rs 5 crore could go in soon into it with training facilities expected to be expanded to another ten cities, Fabiani said.

This apart, the company had identified a three-acre plot for the own premises which could cost upto another Rs 5 crore, he said. This he said was expected to be funded through an IPO which should materialise next year.eComServer partners with iPlanet, WebMethods, BEA WebLogic, Oracle, Lucent and other global corporations to develop solutions for portals, telecommunications and networking.
