Mumbai, May 2: RPG Cables has recorded a 48 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 10.43 crore for the year 1999-2000, against Rs 7.03 crore for the previous year.Sales turnover increased to Rs 427.15 crore for year from Rs 342.94 crore last year. ``The remarkable improvement in the company's performance has come through increase in market share of power cables,'' the company said in a release.
During the year, RPG Cables delivered 42 LCKM of JFTC cables, as against 31.8 LCKM delivered during the previous year. Besides, the company has also raised its output of optic fibre cables (OFC) from 24,000 FKM to 70,000 FKM.
During the year, the company took initiatives for a new range of products like flame retardant PVC insulated cables and opened up a new factory at Silvassa for PVC cables. The company plans to invest Rs 20 crore to increase OFC capacity in the current year as also acquire capacity for flame retardant PVC cables.
