Cari develops salt tolerant rice varieties
Central Agricultural Research Institute (Cari) has developed four salt tolerant rice varieties for Andaman and Nicobar islands and other coastal areas which give an average yield of 2.5 to 3.7 tonnes per hectare against the national average of about 2.2 tonnes.

Crude oil prices in Asia decline as United States builds huge stocks
Oil prices in Asia dipped on Wednesday as a US report showing unexpectedly high crude stockbuilds drew some profit-takers. The American Petroleum Institute (API) said late on Tuesday that the US crude stocks, for the week ended May 5, were up 4.1 million barrels.
