HP unveils details of PA-8700 chip
Hewlett-Packard Company today revealed details of its 64-bit PA-8700 processor, expected to ship in servers and workstations in the first half of 2001. The new processor is designed to operate at frequencies at and above 800 Mhz. NIIT steps up online learning business
NIIT is stepping up its online learning business with an aim to expand its reach to every Internet user across the globe. The key features of the IT learning portal from NIIT will be online career counseling and free online courses. This decision comes in the wake of the Rs 880-crore software and infotech education majors' announcement on May 1, 2000 to carve out its online learning business into a new subsidiary. The new subsidiary would be named NIIT Online Learning Ltd.

SpectraNet to use Lucent's Kenan software
Spectra Net Ltd, a start-up Internet service provider (ISP) based in New Delhi, has selected Lucent's Kenan software products, Arbor/BP and Arbor/OM to support its service expansion. Lucent's software will enable SpectraNet to introduce innovative converged network services to its rapidly growing subscriber base. SpectraNet initially plans to offer high-speed Internet access, and will later expand its portfolio to offer a full range of communications options including broadband, data and video services.
