Mumbai, May 10: Ciba Speciality Chemicals (India) Ltd has posted a 52 per cent increase in its net profit to Rs 18.10 crore on a 47 per cent rise in sales to Rs 453 crore for the year ended March 31, 2000, as compared to previous year.Other income included Rs 2.20 crore from profit on sale of fixed assets of chemical development department (CDD) and Rs 1 crore from profit of sale of long term investment, the company said in its audited results announced on Tuesday. Interest cost went up to Rs 4.9 crore in 1999-2000 from Rs 4.4 crore recorded in the last fiscal. The company also revised the estimated useful life of certain assets for computing depreciation resulting in an additional depreciation charge of Rs 1.50 crore for 1999-2000.
Depreciation went up to Rs 10.9 crore as against Rs 10.5 crore incurred in the previous fiscal. Ciba Speciality on May 1, 2000 acquired 1.53 million equity shares amounting to 51 per cent of the paid-up share capital in Diamond Dye-Chem Ltd a, it said adding, consequently, the latter became a 100 per cent subsidiary of CSCIL.
